Poll Ledger

Where do the polls come from?
From VoteHub’s public polling feed, shared under a Creative Commons license. Each poll links to its pollster and shows its dates, sample and method. We do not run polls ourselves.
Where do the results come from?
Live counts on election night come from civicAPI; certified past results come from the MIT Election Data and Science Lab and the app’s own archive. A race is marked called when the feed flags a winner.
What are “our ratings” and the forecast?
Our own reading of each race. Where polls exist, the polling average sets the rating; otherwise a published call or the seat’s last result does. The forecast simulates the chamber ten thousand times from those inputs. The method is written out in full on the app’s About page, and every call is scored against the result after the election.
Why is a race missing or marked “no polls yet”?
Only polls that are published publicly reach the feed. Many House and local races are never polled; the app still shows the candidates, the last result and our rating.
Does the app need an account?
No. There are no accounts, no ads and no tracking. Your prediction map and settings are kept on your own device.
Something looks wrong.
Tell us. A wrong candidate party, a stale result or a map that will not load is usually fixed the same day.

Refunds and purchases

Poll Ledger is free. If a future product offers a purchase through the App Store or Google Play, refunds follow that store’s policy, and we will help you find the right place to ask.
